The Colonial House: Bette Davis Eyes 1416 Havenhurst Dr

Leland Bryant designed this French Colonial Revival high-rise building in 1929. But all I know is that whenever I am in this building I feel part of a bygone era. Celebrities such as Clark Gable & Bette Davis once called this building home. This building is on the National Registry of Historic Properties and thus has very low property taxes.

Today, you can find that these apartments have been, for the most part, kept up to modern standards while maintaining their old world charm. The building has 21 units on six floors, heated pools, lush grounds & gardens, and an on-duty manager.

Copa Townloft: 547 Kings Road

These lofts are conceptual in that they try to marry a townhome feel and a loft. There are only 4 units in the building complete in April of 2007.

Each unit is 1800 sq. ft. and blanketed in natural sunlight with exposures from 3 directions. The Penthouse unit has a private patio that clears great views. The top three units also have elevators that exit directly to the unit as well as a seperate entrance.

The block leaves a lot to be desired...it is surrounded by a lot of rentals and single-family homes, this building definitely outshines everything else on the block.

Park Wellington

1131 Alta Loma, West Hollywood, CA
This is an interesting building. It offers the services of a hotel, you can even order room service from the Sunset Marquis across the street. Right south of the Sunset Strip on Alta Loma this full-service building features a lush resort-like pool &spa, tennis courts, 24-hour concierge and fully-equipped gym. To be honest, every unit I have personally seen in the building always needs updating and has a funky feel to it. The views and the location are hard to beat. The building is very large with 162 units and 5 stories.

Westview Towers: 1155 La Cienega

This is an interesting building located directly south of Sunset Blvd. It has great views and features the usual full-service building fixings including valet, doorman and pool. But there is something that I can’t quite put my finger on about the building. It has a strange layout, and many of the units that hit the market seem to need a lot of updating. It’s another building that has potential as the property values of Empire West and Sierra Towers continue to rise.
